Speaking for the Voiceless

Three years ago, I saw a photo of a dead albatross chick filled with plastic pieces and knew I had to be the voice for those who couldn’t speak for themselves.
Sometimes I forget and think my purpose is plastic. But it’s not.
Yeah, I collect my plastic waste; blog about plastic-free alternatives; write to companies to get them to change their products and packaging; and give speeches and interviews on plastic, plastic, plastic.  I focus on plastic because so few other activists and organizations do. Because “green” companies still package their products in plastic, and organic foods come wrapped in the stuff.
But my purpose, the reason I speak out on plastic, is for my clients:

They were trying to transmit things also, but they had no human voice. So people ignored them. Or they misunderstood them. Or they hurt them. Or sometimes they killed them. I swore to the animals when I was young that if I could ever find my voice, I would be their voice.

Later, after years of training to learn to speak fluently and escaping into the jungle to be with the animals, Rabinowitz finds himself faced with a difficult challenge. In order to save the jaguars that he loves from extinction, he will have to keep his promise and give the speech of his life.

Some thoughts:

Some tips:

Esisteva almeno la percezione del problema . Oggi, che nulla è cambiato e quasi nulla è stato fatto , non si parla quasi più dell'argomento. Non è una priorità. E se non se ne parla, il problema non esiste. Come è forse conveniente al sistema che sia.
Informazione obiettiva e conoscenza sono vitali in una società democratica ed evoluta. Immaginiamo che nei mass-media si parli di argomenti e questioni  in base alla loro effettiva rilevanza e non al bisogno di distrazione e di controllo delle masse. Immaginiamo un sistema di informazione in cui ogni giorno si pubblichino i dati dell'inquinamento nelle città, il numero dei ricoverati in ospedale per sintomi riconducibili alla cattiva qualità dell'aria; un sistema in cui si parli ogni giorno degli effetti a lungo termine del fumo, o del numero di vittime sulle strade; un sistema in cui si riportino quotidianamente i dati dell'aumento della temperatura terrestre,  le immagini e le misurazioni dello scioglimento dei ghiacci sulla superficie terrestre o i dati sui disastri ambientali conseguenti al riscaldamento globale. Forse questi temi acquisterebbero la rilevanza che meritano , e si potrebbe cominciare a fare qualcosa per risolverli.
Intanto, è importante sapere che è proprio quando le giornate sono più belle che dobbiamo fare di tutto per limitare le fonti di inquinamento , lasciando a casa l'automobile privata e limitando l'uso del riscaldamento domestico.
